Frequently Asked Questions
The majority of clients are referred from Fairfax County social workers and caseworkers. These professionals conduct needs assessments and recommend appropriate individuals for Our Daily Bread's programs. We also accept clients referred from other social services agencies in Fairfax County. All donations from individuals, churches and civic groups go towards client services. Staff and overhead expenses are funded primarily through a grant from the County of Fairfax. Our Daily Bread welcomes all sorts of volunteers. In the past, families have volunteered together to deliver food to needy neighbors, stock our food pantry and process bulk mailing projects. Any individual, family or group interested in volunteering should contact our Programs Manager at 703-273-8829 or odb.programsmanager@verizon.net. If you live in Fairfax County and are in need of financial assistance, food assistance or one of our other programs, have your case manager or social worker call us at 703-273-8829. If you do not currently have a caseworker or social worker, contact Fairfax County's Coordinated Services Planning at 703-222-0880. They will help you access local resources. Our Daily Bread's services are only available in Fairfax County. At this time, we do not extend our services to any other areas of Northern Virginia. Our organization does not publish this collection. There is another organization with the name Our Daily Bread located in the Mid West that prints this publication. Please call 1-616-974-2210 Our Daily Bread is proud to work with FACETS, NOVACO, NOVAM, Northern Virginia Family Services, Volunteer Fairfax and Brain Injury Services to name a few. Our Daily Bread also participates actively in several community collaborations, such as the Council on Homelessness, Central Fairfax Forum, Faith Communities in Action and the Chamber of Commerce. And we are proud to support college internships through George Mason's Center for Service Learning and Exxon Mobil's Community Summer Jobs Program and a high school internship through Fairfax Unitarian Universalist Summer Experience (FUUSE).
